Officials set aside environmental benefits of waste-to-energy facility


A slick branding exercise dubs a planned waste-to-energy facility “Project Kea”, after the quirky and intelligent mountain parrot.

“The kea bird is considered a guardian of the mountains,” the South Island Resource Recovery Ltd (SIRRL) website says, “while Project Kea is one of a kind in New Zealand and aims to protect the environment of Aotearoa.”
