Greene, Montgomery counties receive grants for EV charging stations on interstate systems | News

Eutaw and Montgomery counties are among 14 others to benefit from an $11.2 million grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) for electric vehicle charging stations at fueling stations off the interstate systems.

“Having strategic electric vehicle charging stations across Alabama not only benefits EV drivers, but it also benefits those companies that produce electric vehicles, including many of them right here in Alabama, resulting in more high-paying jobs for Alabamians,” Gov. Kay Ivey said in an announcement.

“This latest round of projects will provide added assurance that Alabamians and travelers to our state whose choose electric vehicles can travel those highways and know a charging station is within a reliable distance on their routes.”

Eutaw in Greene County will receive $783,299 for Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores to install two dual-port chargers at the 7561 Mesopotamia Street location, which is adjacent to Interstate 20/59.

Montgomery receives $581,200 for BP Products North America Inc. to install three chargers at Travel Centers of America Montgomery on 980 West South Blvd. adjacent to Interstate 65.
